Dissertation Topic: Gazing at Israel/Palestine. Visual Geographies of German-Jewish Women after 1933
Abstract: The research project investigates the female perspective on Palestine and Pre-State Israel and focuses on iconographies and topographies of the Nation-Building-Process. Thereby, the photographs will be regarded as intercultural negotiation spaces and contact zones between East and West. Anna Sophia Messners PhD project is part of the Max-Planck-research group "Objects in the Contact Zone – The Cross-Cultural Lives of Things" at Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut.
