Podcast: "Fragen der Sprache in Gershom Scholems frühen Schriften"
Lecture by Dr. Ghilad H. Shenhav
16.04.2025
How can we translate a Hebrew prayer into German, how can we hear traces of God's voice, and what dangers does the secularization of the holy language in Palestine hold? These are just some of the questions that the young Gershom Scholem tried to answer in the years 1916-1928 before devoting himself to the study of Kabbalah.
Ghilad H. Shenhav - coordinator of the Center for Israel Studies and research associate at the Department of Jewish History and Culture at LMU - talks about this in his recently published monograph "Fragen der Sprache in Gershom Scholems Frühen Schriften”.
