Dorit Rabinyan (Tel Aviv)

Amos Oz Visiting Professorship for Hebrew literature for the summer term 2019

22.04.2019

The Israeli writer Dorit Rabinyan is coming to Munich as the new Amos Oz Visiting Professor for Hebrew literature in the summer semester 2019 at the invitation of the Center for Israel Studies. Rabinyan has already written three novels, a children's book, and a screenplay, and is considered one of the most successful current Israeli writers. In German translation, she recently published the book Wir sehen uns am Meer (engl.: All the Rivers) at Kiepenheuer & Witsch (and as a paperback at Droemer), which deals with the relationship between an Israeli translator and a Palestinian artist in New York City. In addition to a public lecture dealing with the far-reaching political discussions triggered by the book, Dorit Rabinyan will hold a seminar on "The Young Generation of Israeli Writers" located in the departments of Judaism and Comparative Literature.
